Summer means sunshine, warm weather and an opportunity to promote your pharmacy.
Take advantage of the season, and promote your pharmacy’s products and services throughout the summer months. Make a special effort this season to do more than the traditional Facebook posts and bag stuffers. Get creative and try something you’ve never done at your pharmacy before.
Here are three ways you can promote your pharmacy this summer.
1. Offer giveaways
Draw patients into your pharmacy and show them you appreciate their business by offering a seasonal summer giveaway.
Choose something that patients will use during the summer, like a beach ball or a water bottle, and brand the giveaway with your pharmacy’s information and logo. When they use the giveaway, they’ll be reminded of your pharmacy.
Samples of summer products are great giveaways that can also spur sales. For example, give patients a sample tube of sunscreen, and let them know that a full-sized version of the product is available for purchase at your pharmacy.
Other summer giveaway ideas: Lip balm, reusable summer tote bag, USB charger and popsicles.
2. Seek out crowds
Summer is a time for festivals, concerts and fairs—all of which are great opportunities to promote your pharmacy.
This season, get out from behind the counter and meet people where they’re gathering. Sponsor the medical tent at an area concert, or volunteer to operate a snow cone booth at a 4-H fair to promote your flavoring service. You could even create a float for your pharmacy and participate in an area parade.
Going to where crowds are already gathered will help you reach new patients and expand awareness about your pharmacy in the community.
Other summer crowd opportunities: Farmer’s markets, baseball games, carnivals and craft fairs.
3. Host an event
Summer is a great opportunity to host an event that promotes your pharmacy.
Arrange for an ice cream truck to set up shop in your pharmacy’s parking lot to boost foot traffic. Or, you could plan a customer appreciation barbeque.
Summer also offers lots of opportunities to partner with local organizations to sponsor a joint event, like a 5K run. You could even partner with other local businesses to throw a community block party in appreciation of the support the community gives to local businesses all year.
Take advantage of the long hours, sunshine, and warm weather, and host your event outside. Reserve a space at a local park, or clear out your parking lot for your next summer event.
Other event ideas: Water day for kids at your pharmacy, local vendors fair in your parking lot, or a customer appreciation cookout or ice cream sundae bar.
