ChatGPT in Your Pharmacy

If you haven’t yet heard about or tinkered with ChatGPT, what are you waiting for? It’s becoming quite the valuable tool for your independent pharmacy.

According to a survey that was published in Exploratory Research in Clinical and Social Pharmacy, it can save you a lot of time and can create more efficiency.  However, it was discovered that the answers provided by ChatGPT were not always very reliable. Therefore, it’s best to cross-reference them with sources you can trust.

ChatGPT is an AI language with the capability to respond in straightforward language to questions related to medication. It can assist clinicians in analyzing clinical cases. It can potentially become a tool that can support pharmacists in providing medication therapy management (MTM) and other services, such as understanding drug-drug interactions. What this means is that it can do what a clinical pharmacist can do for patients by using large language models (LLMs)

Also useful for pharmacists, ChatGPT is a writing assistant. It can support pharmacy employees with writing tasks, such as writing job posts, gathering informational text about drugs and their uses, pharmacy documents, and translating educational information. Many pharmacists are already using ChatGPT for things such as drug interaction checks, customer support, prescription validation, drug discovery, and much more.

It will soon reach many more industries out there and will become more familiar to providers, pharmacies may just find increasing value in ChatGPT technology as it develops.
